Gather Required Documents

Complete the Application

  • Fill out Form DS-11 completely and accurately. Do not sign the form until instructed to do so by the passport acceptance agent.

Submit Your Application in Person

  • As a first-time applicant or if you are not eligible to renew by mail, you must submit your application in person. You can do this at a passport acceptance facility, such as certain post offices, libraries, and county clerk’s offices. In Los Angeles, you can find several convenient locations.

Pay the Fees

  • The cost of a new passport book for adults (16 and older) is $130, plus a $35 acceptance fee. Additional fees apply if you need expedited service. Fees can be paid by check, money order, or credit/debit card, depending on the acceptance facility’s policies.

  • Standard processing times can vary, but typically, it takes about 8-11 weeks for routine service. If you opt for expedited service (for an additional $60), you can expect to receive your passport in 5-7 weeks. STEP 1 : GATHERING THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

 

– Passport Application (Form DS-11)

Please print out 2 copies of this letter. Fill out all the necessary information and sign. DO NOT let Acceptance Agent seal the letter inside the envelope along with other papers.

 

Two Passport Photos
Photos must be recent, identical, 2×2 inches, not from a vending machine.

STEP 2 :GETTING THE US PASSPORT REQUIREMENT DOCUMENTS AUTHORIZED

 

Please locate the nearest Acceptance Agent (AA) office.

Authorization procedure. The Acceptance Agent has to:

 

– Witness the signing of the application
– Collect $35 execution fee
– Check applicant’s ID
– Verify the documents, and
– Seal them into an envelope.

 

The items that should be handed to the Agent and sealed are:

 

– Filled out form DS-11 signed in front of the Agent

– original proof of citizenship

– Two passport photos

– Evidence of urgent travel

– Certified Check or Money Order to “US Department of State” for the appropriate amount.

 

DO NOT let the Agent seal the Letter of Authorization inside the envelope.

The Acceptance Agent should write the applicant’s name, departure date, and date of birth on the outside of the sealed envelope. If two or more applications are sealed in the same envelope please make sure that the information about both applicants is written on the envelope.

 

ALL MINORS MUST APPEAR IN PERSON

 

You must inform the Agent that you are using a passport agency to expedite the processing and that the sealed documents will be hand-delivered to the Department of State. This Department of State policy is called “Hand Carrying of Executed Applications”. The policy is detailed on page 31 and 44 of the Acceptance Agent Manual.

The Acceptance Agent will than return the sealed envelope to you. Do not open the envelope. FedEx the sealed envelope and the rest of the documents to us for processing.
